Creating Calm
So when I was thinking of writing my blog I thought I would share some methods to calm those hectic feelings.
Many people try to create calm by taking a bath, meditating or listening to soft music.
Some other methods I like to use are burning incense, turning off all noisy devices, and sitting or walking outside. I also find reading very relaxing, as well as drawing and painting.
If you are feeling anxious and need a quick method to calm down, first thing I always say is to really pay attention to your breathing. Once you focus, you will realize that maybe, just maybe, you were not even breathing! You were holding your breathe from anxiety.
Start breathing slowly and with rhythm. In and out. Breathe in for the count of 5 and breathe out for the count of 5. Do this until you feel calmer.
You can also repeat a mantra. These are 2 to 3 words that you like to hear. For example: Creator sky, creator sky, etc. Say it slow, with direction and determination. Make the words connect with you.
Another method of calming is thinking of something that made you smile. I smiled when I saw a squirrel hop on the fence and come close to my patio door to look at me. Thinking of it made me smile. Another time, I was walking and a bunny ran across my path. I thought of that bunny when times were getting stressful and it made me smile and realize that the stressful time was not really that stressful.
Crystals are also known to increase calm. Carry the crystal and use it by holding it close or in your hands. Program the crystal to be used for comfort only. It really can be any crystal you like or if you wish to have a specific colour, rose quartz, clear quartz, amethyst or jade are considered to be calming crystals.
Think of what makes you smile and happy and use that to be your comforting calmer!
