Connecting With the World Around Us

As I sit outside typing this blog I have just finished a beautiful mediation and I feel grounded, relaxed and full of peace.

I am sitting outside and I can hear joyous laughter of children playing, the murmur of people speaking in the distance and wind chimes softly ringing. I am feeling the soft breeze of the wind and hear the birds chirping and singing to each other.

This simple awareness is peaceful. It is important to take the time to be aware of what is around us and the beauty of it. Sitting quietly and listening to your surroundings and breathing is a meditation.

Turn off the media and just feel and listen, feel and breathe the moment. The moment is Spirit / God / Creator. Feel the connection. Our breathe is one connection to Creator.

I do love this quote by Thomas Merton:

“Life is this simple: we are living in a world that is absolutely transparent and the divine is shining through it all the time. This is not just a nice story or a fable, it is true. ”
― Thomas Merton

The month of May is here and while we can meditate or sit quietly indoors, please try sitting quietly throughout this month outdoors! Hearing sounds while directly outside can feel more connecting. There is peace in nature and we are a part of that peace.

Embrace nature and make it a point in the month of May to embrace yourself!

Blessings to all.
