Death Doula

In addition to my spiritual workings, I am happy to add the practice of Death Doula. As a death doula I advocate and encourage clients to begin the conversation about death and embracing the dying process at the beginning of diagnosis.
By working together with a client, the focus is on aligning a client with their needs and expectations so that they can express their true wishes for their end of life quality and dignity of care.

I obtained my Death Doula Certificate through Home Hospice Association, Toronto in October 2022.  I am also a Spiritual Director / Companion and obtained certificates from Ontario Jubilee and from the Ottawa Pastoral Care Training Program to further my spiritual understanding.

I provide the following services:

Service 1 – Support and Discussion Visits for the Client

2-hour interval spent with the client:

Discuss challenges with client and work on advance life planning

Discuss funeral planning and aid with planning

Service 2 – Support for the Family as they navigate this journey

2-hour interval spend time with the client, who in this instance is a family member of the patient who is chronically ill:

Read to client anything of their interest, for example, bible, book or poems

Spend time helping client process the impact of this journey
Discuss legacy with client and work together on creating a legacy project

Assist clients with Swedish Cleaning or organization of gifting heirlooms.

Service 3 – Vigil

Vigils require 48 hour notice.

3-hour interval spent by the bedside of the client and relieve the family.

Service 4 – Emotional Support

In a 2-hour interval provide support for family during and after death.
The maximum attendance for this type of support would be 4 to 8 visits.

One individual service is $130.  A 4 bundle pack is available at $500. Mileage will be an added charge for any services requested outside of the Halton Region.

I provide a initial free 30 minute consultation fee to get to know each other and to understand the needs of the client. There are options for remote Death Doula work if required.

Life is a journey and it does not end at death. What begins is another journey. The bridge to begin the second journey should be built with peace, warmth and love.
